about
Lamenting over a long-distance relationship and impending self-reflection, Soft Plastics drop sad-girl bop Easy to Forget, recorded and mixed by James Goldsmith.
"Easy to Forget was our attempt at writing a happy indie-pop song", says lead vocalist Sophie Scott-Maunder. "The song is about being in a long-distance relationship, discovering how to be alone without forgetting who you left behind."
"After our session in the recording studio I had a day session with James, adding layers of organ, arpeggiating synths and our first-ever acoustic guitar track!", says Jonathan Shirley.
"Listening back to the recording we decided the choruses needed a male backing vocal", says Scott-Maunder. "We threw a few names in the ring and ended up asking the amazing Mark Perkins (Merk) to provide some BVs on the track. Mark and I went to high school together and I'm a big fan of his music, so it made sense to invite him to contribute. Mark's warm tone and vocal delivery added the extra magic to this song."
lyrics
Beat down, going nowhere
All I want is for you to be here
You’re not easy to forget
But I’m not as hectic as when we met
Would it kill you
To be truthful
Would it please you
If I wanted to go
I called to see if you’re doing well
You say you’re fine but I can tell
I’m not easy to forget
But I’m not as lonely as when you left
Would it kill you
To be truthful
Would it please you
If I needed to go
I’m not asking a lot here
but you don’t have much to say
All the things that were said and done
Don’t mean much to me
Would it kill you
To be truthful
Would it please you
If I needed to go
